Nissa’s Novelties

Nissa’s Novelties was founded in 2017 by Nissa Ruiz after the birth of her daughter and only child Kailee. Kailee inspired the brand and was the little model behind the early works of the brand which was dedicated to creating one of a kind decorations & outfits for birthday parties. Once the word spread about the talents and early works of Nissa’s Novelties orders for Birthday Parties quickly turned into orders for baby showers, weddings & any event that needed a customized & personalized touch. If it needed custom decor Nissa was on the job or putting a bid on it!

Nissa’s Novelties during early 2020 prior to the pandemic, was still receiving a lot of orders for events but when late February early March hit and Covid shut the world down in fear Nissa truly believed it would be the end of something that barely started! To the Suprise of Nissa & Many others the Pandemic not only strengthened the business but helped it grow rather rapidly! With the closure of restaurants and stores as well as the limited stock coming into the country customers everywhere started turning toward small businesses for well anything and everything that they couldn’t get in stores or shipped to their home.

Throughout the Pandemic and into the present Nissa’s Novelties not only was worrying about her own business she began to worry about the businesses of others. With banquet halls and indoor (and outdoor) venues closed where previous festivals and parades took place the younger member of the community grew restless and with the need for safe yet fun things to do Nissa started hosting outdoor events for the community for both adults and children right in her own backyard. These events helped other small businesses grow and network within the community with other entrepreneurs and families within the city. Due to the greedy founders and those who govern Illinois in Summer if 2021 Nissa’s personal property was shut down and forbidden to be the venue for any event until the proper permits and licensing were obtained.

Last summer Nissa truly believed her business was over! With a hault put to events hosted on her own private property it seemed like she had no other options! However with Faith, Prayer and continued Support from the community, Jefferson Park’s Very own Supreme Smoke Shop Owner Arcan Abdulhashish reached out with a great gift to Nissa’s Novelties. He was extending a more than generous offer, the offer being to sponsor her business and giving her the job and new title of event coordinator & planner. Jumping with Joy Nissa accepted with plans to announce their partnership in Early 2022.

Now here we are In 2022 with a new title, new skills and the same dedication and passion for her brand and the community. Working with new names in the Chicago Small Business Community and the up and coming Cannabis Industry, Nissa’s Novelties is back and reloaded! Reloaded with a new essence, a new vibe and new skills ready to coordinate, host and plan private events and events for the whole community.
